Ah, man, so here’s the scoop on Monster Hunter Wilds — Title Update 2 is on the horizon, and honestly, it feels like Capcom’s throwing everything they’ve got at us. They laid it all out during the June thing… what’d they call it? Oh, the Spotlight showcase. Right, so, this update’s big — lots of nitty-gritty to chew on.
First off, make a note: June 30 is the day. Apparently, early in the morning after some maintenance. Why they chose Monday? I’ve got no clue. Maybe it’s just me, but that makes for a weird start to the week.
Now, the real deal here is new monsters — Lagiacrus and Seregios. Ever heard of ’em? They sound wild. Lagiacrus means underwater combat’s a thing now which… I didn’t even know I wanted. Underwater fights, and your weapon’s kinda not fully there? Nuts. But you gotta finish “A World Turned Upside Down” and “Forest Doshaguma” first, at HR 31. And Seregios? Same drill. Oh, and there’s fresh armor to craft from their stuff. Shiny new duds for you and your Palico.
And hold up, Tempered versions, too? If you’re rocking HR 41, they’re yours to hunt. But they’re top-tier, 8 Star stuff. So, good luck, I guess?
Uth Duna returns, but crank that to Arch-tempered, and it’s an event-only beastie on July 30. HR 50 to take it on. New gear, naturally. But isn’t that always the way?
Here’s something funky — you can prettify weapons now. Keep your fave stats and slap a different look on it. Layered weapons, they call it. To layer one, you need to finish any tree in crafting. But they threw in Artian Weapons too, just with a twist. Fully reinforced and Rarity 8, though — like picking a lock with a fish, right?
And oh, there’re side bits sprinkled around like changing your handler from Alma to Erik (who even are these guys?), and an extra hunter with Sword & Shield. Solid.
And wait, there’s a bonus — Flamefete, this seasonal thing, comes late July till early August. A themed bash with snazzy armor, camp jazz, and gestures. New meals at the cantina, even. Kind of sweet, if you’re into that stuff.
Title Update 3 is lurking for September, with more beasties and festivals. Capcom’s pretty relentless with this.
Honestly, Wilds is hitting a rough patch now. Biggest launch ever and all, but players are furrowing brows. Steam stats are a mess, tanking lower than World in 2018. Review-wise? Overwhelmingly negative. Ouch. Will this update turn the tide? I mean, do people even say “turn the tide” anymore? Probably not. Anyway, fingers crossed. Or not. Who’s to say, really?
