The new Jackbox Party Pack is droppin’ soon on Xbox—get ready, folks! This fall, five fresh games, all shiny and new, including a joke-writing thing, a cute drawing deal, some sound effects shenanigans, a social deduction escapade, and a trivia RPG called Legends of Trivia. Yeah, you heard right, a trivia RPG! It’s gonna be wild.
So, Legends of Trivia… it’s trivia with a fantasy twist. You and your pals team up, answer questions, smack down monsters, and try not to get whacked in return. Basically, it’s like trivia night but with more dragons and less nachos. Or maybe more? Depends on your setup, I guess.
Chatted recently with some of the brains behind this madness. Warren Arnold, the Game Director; Hector Padilla, who’s giving life to the visuals; and sound wizard Nate Sandberg. These guys are crafting something special, I tell ya.
Warren’s spiel? You hit the baddies with right answers, get smacked for wrong ones. Classic. The aim? Rack up points and hopefully make it out a “Legend.” Not an easy feat from what I gather. It’s one of Jackbox’s bigger babies—loads of action, art, and balancing craziness happening.
Now, Hector—this guy was dreaming about the game five or six years ago. Imagine sitting on an idea like a dragon on a pile of gold for that long! But hey, it’s finally gettin’ its day. He pitched it way back, then iced it—for how long? Eons in game dev time, I reckon. Then Nate hit him up, dug out the dusty notes, and bam! They’re making it real.
And what’s this game look and sound like? Nate’s channeling some serious Final Fantasy vibes. 8-bit tunes, arpeggiated synths, classic fantasy instruments—lutes, cellos, you name it. Even threw in a trombone because why not?
Hector? Pokemon fan through and through. Visuals gotta be just right, you know? Characters are his jam, but wrangling UI? Man’s got challenges too. Still, it’s shaping up nicely. Azura the Princess Mage? A fave for Hector. And Bingo the Rogue Jester—because clowns are friends, not nightmares, apparently.
Nate’s audio moment? Big ogre on a tiny donkey—yes, you read that right. Cartoon xylophones with uber-bass ogre grunts. Talk about juxtaposition.
Their mission? Players feeling like their choices matter. Deep, right? You pick an avatar; you wanna believe you’re that character. Music to make it epic and nostalgic. That’s the dream.
So buckle up! Legends of Trivia and the rest of the pack hitting Xbox this fall. Keep tabs on all the action on Jackbox’s socials—it’s gonna be a ride.
