Just a few days ago, Meta’s new Quest 3S Xbox Edition — yeah, the “limited” one — hits the market, and poof, it’s gone. At least if you’re trying to snag it straight from Meta. Third-party folks seem to still have it, though.
The word on the street was this edition would vanish fast. What’s the deal? Maybe more folks wanted it than Meta thought, or they just didn’t stockpile much to begin with. Who can say? Even the official Xbox site directs would-be buyers to a “Sorry, sold out” notice. Crazy, right?
But hey, if you’re in the US, Best Buy’s got you. UK folks can check Argos and EE. Funny, even scalpers jumped on this train, with headsets popping up on eBay for way more cash.
Here’s the thing: this Quest 3S Xbox Edition isn’t much different from the regular Quest 3S. Same specs, different look. You do get an Xbox controller tossed in and a three-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Not all Xbox games fit in here, but there’s a decent library.
Where was I? Oh yeah, money. If you buy it all separately, you’re spending more. This edition saves you like $75. Not bad, right? Just a tad cheaper, considering the whole bundle.
Microsoft once teased us, back in 2016 I think, with high-end VR on Xbox One X. Nope, never really happened. This edition might give you a taste but don’t expect full-on VR Xbox games. Maybe one day, but not now.
Anyway — wait, update: Apparently, there was an error about the bundle’s value. It’s $475, not $415. Maths, am I right?
