Y’know, ever since Red Dead Redemption 2 hit the shelves in 2018, folks just can’t stop talking about it. It’s like this weird mix of gritty Wild West vibes and the totally-not-about-to-go-extinct outlaw life through the lens of Arthur Morgan. It’s a wild ride, emotionally, but they definitely didn’t skimp on the fun factor either.
Now, what gets really interesting are all the quirky little Easter eggs hidden in there. Sometimes, you even bump into some pretty spooky, paranormal stuff. Rockstar seems to have this knack for tossing in unexpected ghostly encounters in their games, but you gotta admit, the Red Dead series might just own the crown in this department. They even dropped this “Strange Tales of the West” thing in Red Dead Online — four missions that feel like the tales you’d hear around a campfire, y’know?
Honestly, it seems like Rockstar’s just itching to dive headfirst into a full-on supernatural game. I dunno, maybe I’m reading too much into it. Or not. Who knows?
Speaking of which, remember the Undead Nightmare DLC from the first RDR game? Total blast, right? John Marston battling it out with zombies. Kind of a perfect blend of western and horror that hasn’t quite been matched since. Yeah, they teased us with those “Strange Tales of the Plague” missions, but alas, that’s as close as we get in RDR2. And at this point, it feels like we’re shouting into the void for a sequel. Eight years is a long time, after all.
Now that I’m thinking about it, Rockstar’s always had a thing for the paranormal. I mean, they sprinkled all these odd, mysterious encounters throughout RDR2: cave hermits claiming they’re the devil, ghost stories, UFO sightings, you name it. Even Grand Theft Auto drops Bigfoot and flying saucers here and there. It’s like a wink and a nod from Rockstar — “Hey, we see you, horror fans.”
Side note, but did you ever hear about the game “Z”? Rockstar was gonna pull off a zombie game, set in Scotland, no less. But somewhere along the way, it got canned. Too dark, too dreary, they said. Maybe it was ahead of its time or something. Or not.
Anyway, now we’ve got all sorts of horror-survival games painting with those gloomy tones and moods, so maybe Rockstar could mix things up. Picture it: a dark, twisted, but somehow funny Rockstar horror fest. Could turn heads like Zombieland or Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. Guess we’ll see, huh? Seems like Rockstar might be sitting on this treasure trove, or maybe not. Who’s to say?
