ShapesXR just got a bit more interesting, I guess? This 3D and XR prototyping gizmo, I mean “platform,” rolled out a spiffy new animation thingy. Seems like it’s aiming to jazz up XR prototypes—make ’em pop, you know? Lifelike, they say. But, okay, let’s dig in.
So, this ‘Animation’ feature—pretty sure that’s what they’re calling it—is all about frames. Not the picture kind, but sort of like it? Easier than pie, apparently. You can sprinkle in transitions and whatnot without having to touch a line of code. Hah, as if I’d know what to do with code anyway. Imagine UI jitters, storytelling rhythms, and those nifty little hand gestures coming to life. Like magic but geekier. ShapesXR says it’s about making prototypes more immersive. Wonder if that’s code for, “Hey, try not to fall asleep while checking this out.”
Saw a picture too! Or was it two? Anyway, it was courtesy of ShapesXR, so they probably think it looks good. But you know how those things go.
Inga Petryaevskaya, the big cheese over there, had some words too—animation’s been their jam for a while. Dreams of mixing it into ShapesXR in this uber-speedy, go-crazy-and-create way. Like, rapid prototyping that doesn’t kill your vibe. Sounds snazzy.
Oh, and collaborating’s a thing here. Teams can do their thing together, like some efficient dance troupe, real-time and whatnot. Flip between monitors and XR headsets like Quest and Pico—no biggie. At least that’s how they make it sound.
There’s more—a virtual instructor? Really? Almost like they think we need guidance. Okay, maybe that’s not a bad idea. These sample spaces and tutorials should… help, I guess? Anyway, it’s all part of this launching package.
Path back a bit—ShapesXR’s been around since 2021. Not that long, right? Mostly for creative types and businesses who want their XR toys in a toolkit. Freebies on the Horizon Store for Quest 2, and, oh, the Pico Store too. But here comes the catch—it’s free with strings. Only one space to fiddle with, and limits like a 10-state cap and 20 MB on asset imports. Want more freedom? Better cough up for a Business or Enterprise license. Classic, eh?
Maybe a chaotic dive, but that’s the scoop. Or at least how it looked to me.
