US gaming colossus, Electronic Arts, is tossing Anthem into the offline abyss next year. Weird, huh?
So, I read on their blog (yep, it’s official) that they’re yanking the plug on January 12th, 2026. No more buying in-game coins, but hey, if you’ve got some leftover, feel free to splash them around. It’s like finding change in your couch cushions.
They even threw in a heartfelt “thank you” for sticking around. Nice of them to acknowledge the fans, I guess.
Now, they’re saying no one’s getting the boot because of this—at least not yet. But who knows what tomorrow brings? Job security is a mystery; ask anyone who’s been through a merger.
Anthem was BioWare and EA’s big ticket to the live-service party. They launched with high hopes in 2019, but it kinda fizzled. It had a rough launch; more dramas emerged about how chaotic the whole process was. Seems like the backstage story was juicier than the game itself.
Remember when BioWare promised they’d jazz it up? They even teased us with Anthem Next, but surprise, surprise—never happened. Cancelled like my weekend plans when Netflix calls.
Anyway, where was I? Oh right, drinks anyone?
