Today marks a special occasion as we’ve opened the gates of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to PS5 gamers who pre-ordered the Imperial Edition. And here’s some thrilling news: the game will be accessible to all PS5 enthusiasts starting December 3.
After its initial release on PC in November 2022, we’ve been tirelessly expanding Darktide, rolling out nine significant updates and over 25 upgrades packed with new content and enhancements. Our PS5 debut comes alongside our 10th major update, Grim Protocols, with even more exciting content on the horizon!
Dress to Thrill with Fatshark-style Combat
Crafting a game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe has been a cherished dream of ours, and with Darktide, we’ve finally brought it to life. Jump into the action-packed world where you become a conscripted convict, or as we call them, a Reject, fighting for the Inquisition to reclaim Tertium from Chaos hordes. Mastering the mix between melee and ranged combat is key to surviving, and we’ve put in a lot of effort to get that hybrid combat system just right.
The PS5 Experience with Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
Bringing Darktide to PS5, our goal was to provide you with the best gaming experience possible. We’ve tailored the game to take full advantage of the PS5’s hardware capabilities. Players have the option of Performance mode, running at 60FPS with 1440p resolution, or Quality mode, which offers a 30FPS experience in 4K. Those playing on a PS5 Pro will benefit from the PSSR technology, ensuring a fluid 60FPS at 4K.
We’ve also spent considerable time on the DualSense wireless controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, ensuring it feels like a natural part of the Darktide experience. From the explosive blasts of the Boltgun to the precision of the Lasgun or the mystical powers of the Force Staff, each weapon delivers its own distinctive experience with every piece of gear.
The impact of automatic weapons is unlike anything you’ve felt before, thanks to the DualSense controller’s haptic rumble and trigger effects. Experience the intense feedback of firing, and feel the increasing tension as your ammo dwindles. The visceral sensation of a Chainsword’s blade slicing through enemies is sheer, thrilling enjoyment.
