Shiftall, a company recognized for its innovative MeganeX PC VR headsets, unveiled two intriguing new VR controller accessories at CES 2025. These include a SteamVR-controller designed for PC VR systems and an interesting add-on for Quest Touch controllers. This add-on offers users a scroll wheel and extra buttons, enhancing the overall experience.
### GripVR
Shiftall is stepping into the arena with its own standard PC VR controller, aptly named GripVR. Tailored for SteamVR Tracking systems (1.0 and 2.0), this controller aligns with the typical button layout. It boasts AB/XY buttons, pressable joysticks, triggers, and grips, each equipped with capacitive touch sensors for a responsive experience.
One of the standout features of GripVR is its impressive battery life, offering up to eight hours of playtime. It can easily be recharged via a USB Type-C port. Like other SteamVR-compatible accessories, GripVR seamlessly works with various headsets, including the Valve Index, HTC Vive, and Shiftall’s own ultralight MeganeX “8K” headset.
Gamers eager to get their hands on the GripVR can expect it to hit the market this summer, with pricing anticipated between $299 and $399.
### AddCon
In addition to GripVR, Shiftall introduced AddCon, a distinct aftermarket attachment designed for the left-hand Touch controllers of the Quest 3, 3S, and Pro models. This accessory enhances the controller’s features by adding a wheel and buttons, which could make navigating through 2D interfaces or VRChat controls much more intuitive.
One particularly neat aspect of AddCon is its shift function. This is achieved through a built-in capacitive sensor located at the pinky finger rest, allowing users to switch between various command sets effortlessly.
According to Shiftall, AddCon caters to users who find themselves in need of extra control options for VR applications. This includes tasks like tweaking camera settings or managing avatars in VRChat. The attachment supports over 14 assignable inputs and can be configured using a specialized PC application, which doubles as an OSC command transmitter for standalone VRChat setups.
Connection-wise, AddCon hooks up to Quest devices via Bluetooth LE or the GX6/GX2 dongle and charges using its USB Type-C port. With a planned release in summer 2025, this nifty accessory is expected to cost $69 for the single left-hand Touch add-on.
This announcement follows Shiftall’s earlier unveiling of the MeganeX superlight “8K” PC VR headset, set to launch in early 2025 with a price tag of $1,899. This latest MeganeX model promises a sleek, lightweight design, complemented by dual 4K high-resolution OLED panels.
You’ll notice we’ve placed “8K” in quotes when referring to the MeganeX superlight 8K headset. This is because, despite its name, the headset’s specs actually feature dual 3,552 × 3,840 OLEDs, not reaching true 8K resolution.
