Alright, here we go. Buckle up because this is one wild ride into my completely unfiltered thoughts about Carrier Deck.
—
So, there’s this game, Carrier Deck from Ultimate Games. It’s basically an aircraft carrier management sim that throws you into the chaos of coordinating air operations, like, everywhere. Intrigued? Well, hang tight. I guess it’s supposed to be fun? Maybe.
Imagine yourself as the Air Officer aboard the CVN-76 in a full-on war scenario. You’re running the entire flight deck operations. Yeah, like, you’re the boss but also the overworked employee. It’s fast-paced with a bunch of tasks — fuelling, launching, landing, you name it. Each new area in the game ramps up the complexity. Like trying to juggle flaming bowling pins while standing on a skateboard on one leg. If that makes sense.
But man, this game can get overwhelming real fast. They throw a bunch of tutorials at you which are about as clear as muddy water. I got stuck for, I dunno, like ten minutes on a single mission. Felt like forever because the tutorial was doing its best to confuse me. Even once I finally grasped the mechanics, it was like I had to jump through flaming hoops to get simple things done. Why?
Playing this thing on a PS5 felt like trying to paint a masterpiece with a toothbrush. The controls were obviously made for a PC, and not exactly friendly on a console. Ever try intercepting an enemy craft? You basically need a flowchart to get through the steps. One wrong move and it’s, “Oops, start over.” Imagine trying to cook a simple meal but needing 20 utensils. Yeah, like that.
Visually, it’s not going to win any beauty contests. Everything happens on this bland aircraft carrier backdrop, which is comforting at first but gets old fast. The UI? Don’t get me started! It’s like trying to use chopsticks with gloves. Or listen to classic rock with hiccups. Repetitive, yet somehow charming background music helps keep the intensity from boiling over, which is something, I guess.
For all the trophy seekers out there, it has a Platinum trophy! Woo. Just dig through a heap of missions, survive a few nightmare scenarios, and voila! Easy, right? Not really, but hey…
So, Carrier Deck could be something special with better controls and clearer instructions, you know? It’s priced at $11.99 on the PS5. Just in case you love aircraft carriers and want to tackle this beast. Want a PS4 version? Also a thing.
Anyway, take this with a grain of salt. Maybe two. Enjoy, or don’t. Up to you.
