Players will step into the shoes—or lack thereof—of an “unemployed failson” as he finally ventures beyond his basement to explore the world, one awkward step at a time. The game is set to emulate the intentionally tricky controls a la Getting Over It and Octodad, promising a quirky, laugh-out-loud challenge for players. Though fans had set their sights on a 2024 release, they’ll need to wait until Devolver Digital announces the new launch date.
The detailed Baby Steps page on Devolver Digital’s site teases a game packed with “fully-simulated physics-based walking,” a lively soundtrack, a vast, non-linear world to explore, whimsical hats, and a rather odd “dynamic onesie soilage system.” An early gameplay trailer reveals a protagonist who doesn’t take himself too seriously, set in an experience that tickles the funny bone much like other beloved, peculiar simulators. The reason for the delay remains under wraps, but fans hope the game will deliver a delightfully exasperating romp when it finally arrives next year.
