Okay, so here I was scrolling the other day—probably should’ve been doing something else—and stumbled upon this wild announcement from Spike Chunsoft. They’re dropping this game, Shuten Order, on the Nintendo Switch, but only digitally in Europe and North America. Yeah, it’s all digital, because, why not?
So, this game, right? It’s a mashup of genres. EXNOA and Tookyo Games, with the brains behind the Danganronpa series, Kazutaka Kodaka, are the masterminds here. Something about five systems in one game. Imagine stealth action horror mixed with a visual novel. I mean, who comes up with this stuff?
And get this—there’s this ominous line about 168 days until everything goes kaboom. I swear, it feels like every game is about the world ending. Anyway, humanity’s on the brink, chaos everywhere, as usual. There’s this bizarre religious group, Shuten Order, taking the world by storm and poof—a nation appears. Then, some drama unfolds with the Founder getting killed. Shocking, right? But wait, they come back to life, like some miracle deal—only to live just four days. My brain is spinning.
Two “angels” show up, calling themselves heaven’s postal service or something, and tell this resurrected Founder, now Rei Shimobe, to figure out who offed them. No pressure, just a ticking clock of four days to crack the case.
Oh, by the way, it drops September 5, 2025. Mark your calendars or don’t, who am I to tell you what to do?
Alright, character roll call time (imagine a drumroll):
Rei Shimobe, the main dude, voiced by Mitsuki Saiga. Then we have Kishiru Inugami, the justice guy, all free-spirit chaos, voiced by Daisuke Ono. He’s got this “Ghost White Arbitrator” nickname and loves his legal drugs. Go figure.
Next, enter Yugen Ushitora, also known as the hospital’s big boss—dubbed “Gatekeeper to the Afterlife.” What a title, huh? He’s voiced by Yuki Ono and super picky with how things run at his hospital. Love his sister to bits too, a bit of a softie there.
And yes, there’s Teko Ion, the science whiz with zero charm but lots of brainpower—like, unmeasurable IQ type. What a character, right? Ayumu Murase gives him a voice.
Then comes Honoka Kokushikan, the mysterious info manipulator. The “Conjurer of Words” is what they call her. Rumors fly about her wanting the top job. Mysterious indeed.
Following that, there’s Manji Fushicho, with a real temper—runs the security show, hunting heretics like a pro. Dubbed “Queen of Heretic Hunting,” she’ll do anything for peace. Shizuka Ito voices her.
Lastly, the angels—Himeru, voiced by Aoi Yuki, super impatient but drives Rei to action. And Mikotoru, calm and wise, voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa, but dodges deep questions like a pro.
There it is, a chaotic ride through Shuten Order’s quirky escapades. Now, where’s my Nintendo Switch?
