Microsoft teaming up with Asus for this thing? A portable Xbox—yeah, you heard right. Maybe you’re thinking, “Finally!” or maybe just “Huh?” Depends, I guess. So, they’re rolling out two of these gadgets, calling them Xbox Ally and a chunkier version, Xbox Ally X. Both of ‘em running on Windows 11. Yeah, real shocker there, right? Makes them buddy-buddy with other launchers like Battle.net straight out of the box. And, oh, Game Pass hogs the spotlight, as per usual, plus you’ve got Xbox Cloud Gaming tagging along.
Let’s backtrack a second—better Windows 11 for games? They say it’s tweaked to be more efficient. Whatever that means. I guess they’re trying to say it’s not just another ROG Ally in disguise, but who really knows? Corporate speak, am I right?
Get this, Roanne Sones, she’s one of the bigwigs over at Xbox, had her say on this. Something about these Allys giving a gaming experience that just goes with you—sounds like she’s selling a magic carpet. Apparently, they’ve got some fancy new features, like this full screen Xbox wonderland and access to your entire game stash. Pretty much sounds like they’ve made a teeny PC for all your gaming adventures—or misadventures.
Oh, and this Game Bar thing? Supposedly makes it all a cakewalk. You just power up, and you’re in, chatting, adjusting settings—like having a mini command center in your hands. Or so they promise.
Price tag? Nope, they’re keeping that under wraps. But they’re saying it’ll hit the shelves sometime around the end of 2025. So mark your calendars—or don’t. Who’s to say when it’ll really show up?
