Assetto Corsa EVO kinda stumbled out of the gate with its early access release this year. People were like, huh? Especially in VR, it felt like trying to run through molasses. Yeah, not great. But hey, there’s some good news: KUNOS Simulazioni just dropped the 0.2 update. Finally! They’ve thrown in some VR tweaks that might make it less of a headache.
So, what’s in this magical 0.2? A bunch of cool new cars you can zip around in, like the Maserati GT2, Lotus Exige V6 Cup — seriously, who names these cars? — along with the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA, Alfa Romeo 75 Turbo Evoluzione (say that three times fast), Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6, Mazda MX-5, and the Honda NSX-R. Oh, and two tracks too: Circuit of the Americas (COTA) and Donington Park. Sweet, right?
They’ve even got this single player ‘Open Mode’ now. Basically, you can grab any car you like without a fuss. Plus, a ‘Career Mode’ if you’re into game economy and progression mechanics. Sounds fancy, but I’m just here to race, really.
Now, onto the VR stuff. This update is supposed to be “step two” for making it more… bearable in VR. Graphics updates? Sure, here’s what they threw in:
– New VR TV camera set
– Mirror capture mode defaults to “dynamic” – whatever that means.
– You can change video settings on the fly now.
– Reflections that don’t make you cringe.
– DLSS is a thing now.
– A new kind of grass. Yep. Grass.
– They fixed some weird black glitch at the horizon.
– No more random screensaver kick-ins in VR.
Oh, and switching between VR and normal screen doesn’t mess with DLSS anymore. Thank goodness.
If you’re a PC VR racer, you’ll still need a beast of a computer, but hey, it’s getting better. Check out the side-by-side graphics show from ‘HYPEVR TV’—the difference is like night and day.
KUNOS hints at more updates before we hit version 1.0 in the Fall of 2025. Hopefully, they keep polishing this thing until VR feels worth dropping 32 bucks on. Fingers crossed!
