Management game RimWorld’s crashing the Steam Top Ten party again, and it’s all because of that shiny new Odyssey DLC. Or maybe there’s more to it—I dunno, but the thing rocketed up 58 whole spots to land at, ta-da, No. 3. Plus, there was a sweet 20% off deal. I guess discounts kinda get the adrenaline going, right?
Anyway—no, wait—I’m getting off track. What really cracked me up is that Odyssey itself hit fifth for the week. That’s way up there! Released on July 11th, people seem to love new shiny things—or maybe they’re just bored and needed something to latch onto. Who knows.
Meanwhile, Counter-Strike 2 looked unstoppable, clinging to that No. 1 spot like an old cat to a sunbeam. PUBG: Battlegrounds sneaked up to second, probably because they teamed up with K-pop stars Aespa. I mean, nothing like a musical crossover to get the fans hyped, yeah?
And oh man, Valve’s Steam Deck hardware slipped down two spots. It’s fourth now, just nipping at the heels of something called Marvel Rivals by NetEase. That one jumped 25 places when they rolled out new content on the same day Odyssey dropped.
Poor little indie darling Peak tumbled down four notches to seventh, but hey, it’s sold over 4.5 million units. Not too shabby, if you ask me. Destiny 2 waltzed back in at No. 8 because of The Edge of Fate expansion on July 15th. New stuff really is like catnip, isn’t it?
NetEase bobbed again in ninth with Naraka: Bladepoint. For some reason, I always imagine something epic when I hear the name. And finally, Dead by Daylight dropped three spots to hold onto the tenth place, hanging in there like an old pro.
Here’s how the Steam world looked by July 15th:
1. Counter-Strike 2, Valve
2. PUBG: Battlegrounds, Krafton
3. RimWorld, Ludeon Studios
4. Steam Deck, Valve
5. RimWorld – Odyssey, Ludeon Studios
6. Marvel Rivals, NetEase
7. Peak, Aggro Crab
8. Destiny 2, Bungie
9. Naraka: Bladepoint, NetEase
10. Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive
