Man, so get this. BBC this morning was all like, “Hey, you can play NES games on a Super Nintendo!” They should’ve hit up Greg Leahy before dumping that little nugget of chaos. I mean, come on.
So, this week’s big Nintendo deal? Donkey Kong Bananza is on everybody’s lips, and sure, we’ll throw in our two cents next week—I’m probably more excited than I should be. But let’s not kid ourselves, there’s a lot more brewing in the gaming cauldron. Like Pac-Man’s going all exploration platformer on us, and some folks (and by “folks,” I mean that news desk) swear it’s bigger than Shadow Labyrinth. Not sure if it’s a hot take or just plain bonkers. Meanwhile, The Wandering Village, where you, uh, build a city on a giant creature’s back, also got some love in the latest Direct. Did you remember that? I kinda want to, but my brain’s fuzzy.
Other stuff that might’ve slipped through the cracks? That ArcSys fighter, HunterxHunter NenxImpact. Might be fun if you’re into that Dragon Ball FighterZ vibe. Then there’s Neverwinter Nights 2 getting ported—and without trackball fun, Golden Tee’s back, courtesy of Digital Eclipse. Also, God Wars is simultaneously getting a new publisher? Yep, apparently so.
Oh, and stuff we kind of missed—sorta embarrassing to admit—some Archives title (Super Dimension Fortress Macross II or something was buzzing about). Plus, worldwide release of an Aussie Rules football game with zero licenses—so there goes my dream of a St. Kilda and Gold Coast Grand Final, right?
FIVE DIMITRIS ALERT. Ever heard of Pineapple: A Bittersweet Revenge? Maybe not. It’s somewhere I’m not—it’s listed for eight bucks in the States but eighty bucks in Canada because reasons. Willem peeked at it, FYI.
Okay, let’s jump to releases or whatever.
### North America
– Switch 2: Donkey Kong Bananza is your wallet’s new best friend at $69.99. Pac-Man: Shadow Labyrinth lurking around for $29.99 on Friday.
– Switch 1 has, um, HunterxHunter Nen Impact for $59.99? And really, so much more. Bustafellows and Upin & Ipin Universe are in there too, waving hello. Let’s not forget Golden Tee, the arcade nostalgia trip—and The Wandering Village, back again.
### Europe
– Over on the other side of the pond, Donkey Kong still reigns, going for €69.99. Pac-Man’s still shadow-lurking for €29.99 on Friday again, déjà vu style.
– HunterxHunter’s out there, along with Bustafellows Season 2, keeping everyone busy. What’s weird? The Wandering Village shows up here too. Spooky, right?
### Japan
– Donkey Kong Bananza’s shouting with ¥7980 to its name on Switch 2. And Pac-Man, repeating itself at ¥3960.
– Switch 1 gets a bit crazier, tossing DistortedCode: The Scent Of Life and HunterxHunter NenxImpact into the mix. Still, the same classics, different locale.
Random e-shop gems bouncing around every price point? Yup, that part was surprisingly consistent. Dollar drops and highlight sales until August 2—catch “Another Crab’s Treasure” if you’re into, uh, crab treasure hunting, I guess.
Anyway, that pretty much sums it up—wait, did I forget anything? Probably. Who even knows at this point.
