Sure thing! Here goes:
So, here we are again — diving headfirst into Early Access territory. Wild place, honestly. I actually adore it. You know, it’s like peeking through a crack in reality at games taking their first shaky baby steps. Yeah, Early Access once had a rep for being full of half-baked stuff… like a weird gaming purgatory. Not to say everyone was guilty, but yeah, it was messy. But hey, times change. Now? It’s where hidden gems pop up like daisies. Enough about that — today, it’s all about Vanguard Exiles. Got a good feeling about this one.
Right, so Vanguard Exiles — this one’s juicy. Coming from a Magic: The Gathering brain, so no pressure, right? But here’s the twist: not a card in sight. It’s a hex-based fighting game. Feels like I stumbled into a tabletop dream. Sort of like, could totally see this with some fancy miniatures someday. If that happens, sign me up — definitely getting a pre-order.
Anyway, just a heads up, this isn’t a full-blown review or anything. It’s all work-in-progress chatter since Vanguard Exiles is still in Early Access. Yeah, I’ll moan about some bits — mostly that blasted RNG — but it’s all part of the journey, right?
So, imagine this: you’re leading a band of mercenaries through these trenches. You gotta conquer rooms, each with its own weird quirks. Sometimes you’ll hit payday, other times — an angry bear, just for kicks. Things get really tactical. Gotta hit 80 points to win, but it’s all about the choices. Oh, and good luck choosing which rooms to go for. It’s like a buffet but with less food and more existential dread.
Vanguard Exiles? Seriously a blast, barring some gray areas. It’s an auto-battler, ok? I know, I know, some folks cringe at that. But the strategy bit — deciding where and how many units to plunk down. It’s trickier than it sounds. Sticking all your eggs in one basket, or spreading too thin — both risky. This game fights for you, and, oddly, that’s part of the charm.
Got a load of different units but you won’t meet them all at once. Between rounds, you grab cards — yeah, kinda like window shopping. No gold, no problem, there’s always a freebie pick to keep you in the game. But hey, this ain’t a card game. More like a deployment dance-off. Weird analogy? Probably.
Gameplay’s fun for sure, but where’s the story mode? You’ve got your factions — dwarves, elves, some creepy cultists skulking about. But not much lore. They’ll flesh it out. Gotta nail the mechanics before adding that fluffy narrative. But the fluff is what makes it sparkle.
Balance needs work, no surprise there. Some matches? Fair. Others — not so much. Playing to 80 points can be a slog when you start off on the wrong foot. I mean, by round four, I’m either optimistic or restarting. Here’s hoping for some tweaks to keep things lively.
Also, those unkillable units? Not cool. Armored dwarves coming in like tanks. Need an early-game fix for that. Stalemates are frustrating, like trying to outsmart a toaster. Fix the mechanics, please.
All grumbles aside, I’m kinda in love with Vanguard Exiles. If they keep tweaking and adding depth, strategy fans are gonna have a field day. Keeping a close watch on this one. Could be legendary if everything clicks into place.

And that’s a wrap!
