So, you know that old Gecko with the sassy comebacks? Yep, Gex is back, and it’s got me all nostalgic. I remember playing this game, like, ages ago—when my biggest worry was finishing my homework on time. Anyway, here’s the scoop.
Limited Run Games has finally spilled the beans. They’re launching not one, not two, but three versions of the Gex Trilogy on the Nintendo Switch. Three physical editions, if you’re into collecting shiny things. Why? Who knows, but hey, choices are good.
Let’s dive in. The collection packs in the original Gex—good ol’ 2D action—and then, bam! The 3D adventures: Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. It’s like they slapped on some new features too. A rewind option, can you believe it? Wish I had that in real life. Oh, and save anywhere. It’s like they read my mind from back then—you know, when I’d forget to save and lose hours of gameplay. As for tech stuff, they’ve gone widescreen, native 16:9, whatever that means, and full-on 360-degree movement. No more clunky controls? Fingers crossed.
Now, the editions. First up, the Standard Edition. At $39.99, you get the game disc—cartridge, whatever—plus a game case, cover, and a booklet. Classic vibes, right?
Then there’s the Classic Edition at $74.99. Take everything in the Standard Edition, throw in a steelbook (because metal is fancy), plus a double-sided poster and a CD with select tracks. The retro box is like a hug from the past.
Now… drumroll… the Tail Time Edition. A whopping $199.99—gotta be a superfan for this one, I guess. You get everything in the Classic Edition, but ditch the Soundtrack Selection CD because they’re giving you the full soundtrack on another CD anyway. Plus, chuck in a 36” inflatable Gex doll (no idea where I’d put that…), a 7” statue, trading cards, and a remote pin. All packed in a collector’s box, illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano—pretty artsy, huh?
Oh! Almost forgot. Mark 16 June 2025 on your calendars ‘cause that’s when it drops on the Nintendo eShop. Physical copies will wave hello later in 2025. If you’re itching to get in early, pre-orders are open on Limited Run Games’ website until that first Sunday in July 2025.
So there you have it. Gex is back, bigger and maybe better? Only one way to find out. Can’t wait to hear those one-liners again. “It’s tail time!” Or something like that.
