Sure thing. Here goes.

So, like, weird but exciting news popped up on a Wednesday morning—Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel? Yeah, it’s actually happening. Officially in pre-production now. CD Projekt just dropped the news, and they’ve ditched that old codename, Project Orion. Now it’s straight-up Cyberpunk 2. Simpler, right?
Anyway, this tidbit came out during some kinda financial presentation the studio gave. Which, honestly, I wouldn’t usually pay attention to, but hey, they mentioned the Cyberpunk sequel, so here we are. The team behind it got some applause—well deserved, I suppose—since CD Projekt is also gearing up to drop the first game on, wait for it, Nintendo Switch 2. Didn’t see that coming.
Oh, but here’s a kicker. The release revealed that just a few weeks ago, the brains at CD Projekt Red wrapped up the “conceptual phase” of this next big game in the Cyberpunk world. And voilà, Project Orion’s now officially Cyberpunk 2. Snazzy, huh?
Flipping through the presentation, they’re saying by the end of April, 96 folks are pushing pixels on Cyberpunk 2. That’s 12 more than February. Progress, but still peanuts next to the 422 peeps grinding away on Witcher 4. Yeah, that’s a big number. Speaking of which, let’s not forget the 131 unsung heroes in “shared services.” They tackle all the necessary stuff like localization, quality assurance—unsung heroes for real, keeping it all glued together.
Oh, did I mention the Phantom Liberty expansion? Freaking 10 million copies out the door. And Witcher 3? Celebrating 10 years with 60 million copies sold. People really love grumpy monster hunters and whatever gnarly stuff goes down in Dogtown.
I’m curious—will they stick with “Cyberpunk 2”? Or maybe they’ll slide in a year to echo Cyberpunk 2077? Who knows? We got a hint from the legend himself, Mike Pondsmith, that it’ll feature a city kinda like a dystopian Chicago. Yikes or yay, not sure which.
And that’s where I get sidetracked, but hey, that’s life for you.
