At long last, DOOM: The Dark Ages dropped! Fans, both the die-hard crowd and newbies to id Software’s FPS universe, are pretty much buzzing. It’s a prequel to DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal, and reviews and scores on Metacritic? Through the roof. Everyone’s ready to dive into this medieval slice of Hell and unleash chaos until it’s over. Well, that’s my plan at least, once I get my hands on it.
So, unless you’re on an Xbox Series X|S, PS5, or one of those gaming handhelds, you’re gonna need a Windows PC that’s up to spec. You could buy a new one or pimp out your current rig. But here’s a kicker — they’re doing giveaways! Fancy gaming hardware that not only laughs in the face of DOOM’s requirements but also comes decked out in crazy cool DOOM: The Dark Ages skins, designs, and themed RGB profiles. I kinda want one just because, well, skins and lights — who doesn’t love that?
NVIDIA spilled the beans in a blog earlier this week. They even gave a nod to their DLSS 4 and NVIDIA Reflex being supported here, and yep, we tested DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation — blown away! Right at the end of their spiel, they name-dropped some custom gaming PCs, laptops, and GPUs crafted with their buddies like Falcon Northwest, MAINGEAR, and MSI — all boasting their shiny new RTX 50-series lineup of cards. Mind-blowing stuff. Or at least I think it is. Maybe.
I’ve got a list somewhere below of all these giveaways, or you can peep the image gallery above to drool over them. There are six things up for grabs: four PCs, one gaming laptop, and a graphics card. Quick breakdown: PCs sport either AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D or Intel’s snazzy new Ultra 7 or 9 processors, and they’re all rocking the monster that is NVIDIA’s RTX 5080 GPU. Imagine chucking that into your current setup. Yeah, epic levels await.
Most giveaways are up until May ends, and winners will be picked early June-ish. Some run into next month, so keep an eye on that. Entries are mostly free — just the usual email signup or social media follow dance. For the Colorful GPU, though, you’ll need to follow regional NVIDIA GeForce channels, and there’s a catch for the Cybertek PC — buying an eligible ASUS product gets your foot in the door.
Heads up: Falcon Northwest, MAINGEAR, and ORIGIN PC giveaways: US-only. If you’re in France, that Cybertek PC’s up for grabs. Asia and the Pacific folks can aim for the Colorful RTX 5080 GPU, and the MSI Vector 16? Global reach on that one. Global!
All these rig setups are limited edition eye candy, really. The Cybertek one looks drop-dead gorgeous — bummer for me since I’m not in France. Still, I’ll throw my hat in the ring for the U.S. ones and maybe the global MSI Vector 16 (because, let’s be real, my 2020 Razer Blade 15’s starting to feel a bit retro).
Smart money says chances of winning? Slim. But doesn’t hurt to try, right? At the very least, you can snag a Verdant skin for the Doom Slayer in DOOM: The Dark Ages from the NVIDIA app — instructions somewhere out there.
And DOOM: The Dark Ages as a whole? A stunner among Xbox and PC titles for 2025. Normally priced at $69.99, it’s going for $63.99 on CDKeys now. Also, jump in on Xbox and PC with Xbox Game Pass if you fancy.
Who’s ready for the rip and tear?
