Oh, man, where do I even start with this? So, Neat Corp—those folks who gave us the crazy VR antics in the Budget Cuts game series—yeah, they’re back with something called Crossings. Picture yourself spell-casting and swinging blades in, wait for it, the Norse afterlife. Seriously, Viking vibes everywhere.
Now, this thing is a co-op roguelite. (Yup, that means you and your friends can dive into this shifting world that’s as unpredictable as my morning mood.) It’s like you’re on this wild ride of vengeance—let’s call it an adventure—against trolls, draugr, and creepy whatnots. You meet other souls there too, but here’s the kicker: it’s like a wordless dance. Just dodge and stab without chatting. Kinda wild, right?
Anyway, so get this: as you play, you learn new spells. And they’ve thrown in all these banging Viking-age weapons. Blades, clubs, even something fancily called the ‘Tooth of Nör.’ Sounds intense, huh?
Neat Corp’s giving us a slice of their imagination with this: You start all cold and alone somewhere weird, like that forgotten sock behind my dryer. Your body? Gone. Spirit? Oh, it’s fighting on. And you’re in this Norse afterlife where everything’s dancing—literally—’cause it changes every time you play. You bump into other players (again, no words) and it’s all about timing those real-world dodges and strikes. Old mythic creatures—I’d say they come alive, but weren’t they always alive in stories? Anyway—trolls, dvärg, draugr, they’re all there. You’re either rolling solo or teaming up. Every decision? Yeah, it leaves a mark.
No clue on when this thing’s dropping, but heads up, you can wishlist it on the Horizon Store or Steam if you fancy. Oh, and they’ve got a PC VR demo coming up during Steam Next Fest, October 14th–21st. It’s like a sneak peek, but just single-player. I guess you gotta wait for the rest to drop later.
I’m sorta excited, like that time I found extra fries at the bottom of the bag. It’s a chaotic, myth-filled world they’re inviting us into, and maybe, just maybe, it’ll be a blast.
