Okay, so here’s the thing – we’re all just hanging on, hoping for something shiny and new in the Ecco universe. Sounds like there might be remasters coming next April. Or, they might just keep us waiting even longer because why not? Anyway, Ecco the dolphin – epic, right? I mean, who doesn’t want to glide through the ocean blue on a side-scrolling adventure? Except, yeah, it’s tough. Like, “bang-your-head-against-the-wall” tough. Especially Ecco: Defender of the Future. Third-dolphin view, anyone? And while Annunziata was off doing other stuff when that sequel dropped, the game still locked in all those feels – spooky tunes, lurking creeps, massive skill checks. Honestly, playing it made me want to be a dolphin, but oh well… bucket list dreams, I guess.
And speaking of dreams, turns out Annunziata kinda gets me. “What if you could live like a dolphin?” he mused to Xbox Wire. Really, he could’ve picked a whale but nah, dolphins got the allure. They’re social, curious, maybe even smart like us? Anyway—I digress.
Annunziata, big-brain guy, right? He’s got his theories about gamers having some sky-high IQs and this fierce, world-changing passion thing going on. Which somehow pivots into caring for the ocean. I mean, makes sense, considering his Pacific Islander roots and all. It’s like, “Hey, wouldn’t it be cool if humans and oceans just vibed together across the ages?” he said. No one argues with that, buddy.
So, what’s up next? Remasters! Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco: Tides of Time – with Annunziata and his dream team at the helm. But hey, we’re still waiting on those dates. Maybe they’ll announce it soon, or maybe they’ll take their sweet time. Who knows. Just another day in the life of an Ecco fan.
